Welcome
Welcome! My name is James Ferguson and I am a highly experienced BABCP accredited psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Dissensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). I have an online practice where I offer video sessions at convenient times from the comfort of your own home.
Many people benefit from having a safe and supportive space to speak about life's challenges, whilst working alongside a trusted clinician to explore these difficulties and feel empowered moving forward. This is exactly what I offer in my practice, and previous clients have spoken about how our sessions have helped them to regain a sense of hope and purpose and allowed them to reach the 'light at the end of the tunnel'.

By drawing on evidence based approaches and my down to earth style, we will work together to build a therapy plan that is ideal for you. In your sessions I will create a warm and safe environment, a place where you feel comfortable to discuss difficult emotions, significant past experiences, and thought patterns keeping you stuck. You can rest assured knowing that you will not be judged but instead helped to understand, manage and grow as a person.

I have worked in NHS Talking Therapies services since 2013, supporting thousands of adults facing challenges. just like you. For more information about me, my background and qualifications see my About page.
If you are interested to learn more about how we can work together please contact me via email at jamesfergusontherapy@gmail.com. We can then arrange an initial consultation free of charge to answer any questions.

UNDERSTANDING THERAPY
My Approach
The first stage of therapy is focused on getting a shared understanding of your difficulties, what life experiences led to this, what is keeping it going and how do you want things to be different? We will be curious together to learn about your coping strategies, why they might not be working right now and what we can do differently.

I use evidence based therapies, CBT, EMDR and IPT, to provide a framework for you to understand. more about yourself and then give you strategies that will lead to you feeling better within yourself.

I offer online therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home. I recommend weekly sessions and can offer short-term structured, goal focused therapy or longer term therapy where we can be more explorative about the underlying issues . I will use my experience and knowledge of the latest research and evidence base to build a therapy plan that is right for you.
